What inspired you to start volunteering with Climate Resilient Communities (CRC)?
Iāve always felt that nature isnāt just something out there, itās a part of us. We depend on it every day, and Iāve always wanted to do something to give back. When I found CRC, it felt like a good fit. I saw an opportunity to use my tech skills for something that actually matters, helping communities and the environment at the same time. That really resonated with me.

Can you tell us about a specific project you worked on and your role in it?
One project Iāve been developing is CRCās Climate Story map platform, an interactive web-based map that allows individuals to anonymously share their experiences with climate change. I built the platform from the ground up, focusing on the technical implementation, user interface, and map integration. The goal is to provide an accessible and secure space for communities to express how climate impacts their lives. Itās been a meaningful way to use my technical skills to support climate awareness and community storytelling.

What challenges have you faced during your volunteer work, and how did you overcome them?
Since itās all volunteer-based, things can move slowly sometimes. People are busy and have other priorities, which is totally fair, but it can be a bit of a challenge when youāre trying to keep momentum. Iāve learned to just focus on what I can do, keep making progress on my end, and stay patient. Itās also taught me to communicate better and not stress too much when things take time.

What has volunteering with CRC taught you about climate resilience and community engagement?
Itās taught me that climate work isnāt just about big systems or fancy solutions, itās about people. CRC really focuses on hearing from communities that are directly affected, and thatās been eye-opening. Real resilience comes from supporting people, listening to their stories, and working with them, not just for them. Thatās something Iāll carry with me no matter what kind of work I do.

What are you most excited about in your continued work with CRC?
Iām excited to see the stuff Iāve built actually get used, to see people posting their stories and feeling like they have a voice. Thatās the whole point. And Iām looking forward to doing more, whether itās improving whatās already there or starting something new. I like the idea of using tech to make a small difference in something as big as the climate crisis. That feels worth it.
