🌱 Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) is a volunteer-run project operating under Transition Toronto. We help marginalized communities build climate resilience, leveraging data & AI to transform climate anxiety into effective action.
🌻 Current projects include a youth data literacy workshop program, a community adaptation capacity building workshop program, a multilingual AI chatbot for accessible climate information, and a youth climate anxiety detection project to provide timely mental health supports and interventions.
Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week based on project needs and flexibility
Location: Remote within Canada
What you'll be doing:
- Creating Engaging Designs: Develop eye-catching graphics for social media, newsletters, presentations, and our website using Canva as your main tool.
- Developing Creative Content: Craft fun, educational, and informative social media content that inspires community adaptation to climate challenges, blending engaging visuals with themes that resonate with our audience.
- Social Media Engagement: Actively engage with our social media community by liking, commenting, and interacting with other accounts, helping to build connections and increase our online presence.
- Social Media Analysis and Research: Conduct research on trends and best practices in social media for the climate resilience sector, keeping our content relevant and impactful. Regularly analyze social media performance to inform future content strategies.
- Collaborating with the Team: Work closely with the communications team to support campaigns, events, and educational materials, bringing creative ideas to life.
- Building a Template Library: Design and maintain a library of Canva templates for the team to use, making it easy to produce consistent and professional content quickly.
Ideal Skill Set:
- Canva Expertise: Strong experience in Canva with a good eye for layout, typography, and color.
- Creative Vision: Ability to develop original designs that resonate with CRC’s audience and clearly convey key messages.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure high-quality, polished, and error-free design output.
- Time Management: Skill in handling multiple design projects at once, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality.
- Passion for Visual Storytelling: A genuine interest in using design to engage communities, especially on topics related to climate action and social justice.
