About Climate Resilient Communities & Our Projects
Climate Resilient Communities (formerly known as Toronto Just Climate Resilience) is a not-for-profit project operating under Transition Toronto.
Our Vision
To empower youth and disadvantaged communities with the knowledge and resources to become resilient to and adapt to climate change, building the foundation for a resilient, sustainable, and equitable future.
Our Mission
To address climate anxiety among youth and disadvantaged communities by enhancing their climate resilience through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and data-driven solutions. We aim to co-create with diverse stakeholders, improving community data literacy and increasing their participation in climate adaptation.
The Problem
Our NPO project addresses critical challenges in achieving equitable climate resilience:
- Inequality in building community climate resilience
- Lack of pathways for behaviour change for climate adaptation
- High rates of climate anxiety among young people
Addressing these challenges is crucial for fostering a resilient and equitable society capable of withstanding climate change impacts. By grounding our strategy on the lived realities of marginalized communities, we can ensure that those most vulnerable are better prepared and supported.
Our Initiatives
